When substance use is not the only thing going on
Anxiety, depression and trauma frequently occur alongside substance use disorders, and treating the substance use while ignoring everything underneath it rarely holds. Individual therapy is where that work happens.
Trauma-informed means the approach assumes trauma may be present and is built not to re-injure. You are not required to disclose anything before you are ready, and nothing is forced open on a schedule.
What individual therapy is not
It is not a test you can fail. It is not a place where you are lectured. And it is not a substitute for group work or medication — individual therapy can be combined with group therapy and medication-assisted treatment for a comprehensive treatment experience, and for most people that combination works better than any one alone.
Confidentiality
Your treatment records are protected health information. We do not contact your employer. Information is shared with other providers only with your written consent, and you decide what that consent covers.
Paying for treatment
We accept West Virginia Medicaid, private insurance and self-pay. WV Medicaid requires prior authorization for most substance use disorder services — we complete that paperwork for you as part of intake.
